Green Links - Understanding our Environment

Awakening Lotus:  cares for the environment; conserves resources; and is committed to reducing its ecological footprint.  Awakening Lotus has assessed its environmental impact and has developed and implmented a Green Action Plan to reduce its ecological footprint.
  
I have created this page to promote websites that are concerned with the environment and who are taking soulful steps in helping us understand what we can do to make a difference to the Earth.

• Greenpeace Australia Pacific - an independent organisation campaigning to ensure a just, peaceful, sustainable environment for future generations. Mission and core values are based on independence, non-violence and bearing witness.
   
• Landline - an ABC television program:
     • Program Archives - comprehensive Programs Archive by issue.
     • Discussion Area - talk about the stories and news on this week's program in
      the weekly rural issues forum.
   
• Planet Ark - Australian not-for-profit organisation set up to show people and business the many ways that they can reduce their day to day impact on the environment.

     • not politically aligned but endeavoring to work with whichever government 
      is in office to bring about environmental change.
     • does not protest or hold demonstrations but aims to appeal to the general
      public who perhaps feel uncomfortable protesting, but still want to help the

• RSPCA - to prevent cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection and to be the leading authority in animal care and protection.
   
• WIRES (NSW Wildlife Information and Rescue Service) - rehabilitating sick, injured and orphaned native animals since 1985.  A non-profit, non-political charity, where animal welfare always comes first. All our carers are voluntary, and give their time and emotions free of charge.
